Smartphone shoppers who didn’t immediately upgrade to Apple's iPhone 6S when it launched in April can find some hefty savings during Black Friday 2016. But they’ll have to brave the crowds to take advantage of most of the deals.

Keep in mind that each retailer is offering a number of different deals depending on what plan you choose, as well as whether you trade in your older device. Before you rush out after Thanksgiving dinner for a new iPhone 6S, here’s a closer look at what you can expect from major retailers.

Starting Thanksgiving Day, if you’re willing to part with an iPhone 5 or newer, Best Buy will throw in a$200 store gift card in addition to the trade-in value of your old Apple smartphone when you buy any iPhone under a two-year agreement, lease or installment plan with Verizon, AT&T or Sprint. Best Buy is also offering a $100 savings on 64GB and 128GB iPad Mini 4 models, normally priced between $499.99 and $599.99.

Or if you’re in the market for a new computer, the 12-inch MacBook is available for $1,149.99, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is on sale for $1349.99 and the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display is on sale for $1,649.99, a $150 savings for each model. Best Buy will be open Thanksgiving from 5 p.m. local time until 1 a.m. It then reopens Black Friday at 6 a.m. local time.

Target

Starting 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, customers can purchase a 16GB iPhone 6S from Target for $149.99or the iPhone 6S Plus for $249.99 under a two-year contract with Verizon, AT&T or Sprint -- a $50 savings. Alternatively, customers can opt for no money down and a $250 Target gift card through the activation of an equipment installment plan through the three carriers. The 64GB models of both devices are also on sale.

Customers looking to purchase the Apple Watch, starting at $349 for the Sport model, can also nab a $100 Target gift card with purchase. There are also various iPad gift card deals ranging from $80 to $150.

T-Mobile

The magenta-logoed carrier won’t have any iPhone deals on Black Friday. But if you’re willing to wait until 2:01 a.m. PST on Cyber Monday, it’s offering iPhone shoppers free memory upgrades. Customers who purchase a 16GB iPhone 6S or 6S Plus will be upgraded to 64GB storage. Buyers of the 64GB model iPhone 6S or 6S Plus will be upgraded to a 128GB model. The deal is available only until 11:59 p.m. PST Monday while supplies last.

EBay

On Thanksgiving Day, shoppers can grab a 16GB rose gold iPhone 6S for $629, or $20 off regular price. On Black Friday, the online auction website is selling a 64GB iPhone 6S in space gray, gold, rose gold or silver for $719, a $30 savings. Shoppers can also get their hands on an iPad Air 2 for $359.99, a $140 discount.

Sam’s Club

The warehouse dealer is also expected to serve up discounts on the iPhone 6S leading into Black Friday. But it won’t reveal exactly how much of a deal customers will get until its smartphone sale is unveiled on Thanksgiving via its website.

Walmart

The discount superstore is serving up some iPhone 6S savings with a $100 discount as well as a $100 Black Friday gift card with iPhone activations starting at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The deal is available only for AT&T and Verizon. The catch: The discount comes in the form of a $100 bill credit and the $100 gift card is valid only for future purchases. Shoppers can also find a 16GB iPod Touch for $165, a $30 savings, and a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Mini 2 for $199, a $69 savings, starting 6 p.m. local time Thursday.

Well, we don’t want to spoil that, but Apple’s already working on the iPhone 7, and rumors about it are beginning to heat up. Here’s what we think we know about Apple’s next major smartphone release so far.

Leaked pics may reveal battery size

Battery life on the iPhone has never been extraordinary, but it may get a slight boost on the iPhone 7. A leaked photo from China claims to show a 7.04 watt-hour battery pack for the iPhone 7, which would be larger than the current 6.61 watt-hour battery in the iPhone 6S or the 7.01 watt-hour battery in the iPhone 6S Plus.

If this really is the iPhone 7’s battery pack, that’s good news for iPhone users. However, the source is unknown and its impossible to verify whether the battery is real or not, so treat this rumor with skepticism.

Dual cameras, but only on select models

Apple has always steadily improved the iPhone’s camera, and since the introduction of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, has subtly separated them by making a few features unique to the larger Plus model. This may continue with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, according to rumors.

Bastille Post

A newly leaked image of what may be the iPhone 7 Plus appeared on a Chinese website called Bastille Post. The image appears to show a dual-camera sensor on the back of the device, as well as the small antenna lines along the bottom edges, which we saw in a previous leak.

There’s also some kind of smart connector on the device in this pic, which may be like the one on the iPad Pro, though we’re not sure what it’d be used for on the iPhone. Of course, Bastille Post is an unknown publication, so these could very well be fake images. However, if the iPhone were to have dual cameras, we imagine the setup would look something like this.

In a February report, Macrumors says Apple will reduce the size of the iPhone 7’s camera lens so it sits flush with the body, rather than sitting proud like it does on the iPhone 6S. It’s not clear whether this will continue on the 7 Plus, but other reports hint Apple might include a dual-camera setup on the larger phone.

DigiTimes reported in early February that Apple received dual-lens camera samples from Largan Technology, as well as other lens makers from Japan and China. Apple will supposedly test these samples with the hopes of using one of them on the iPhone 7 Plus or a “premium” version of it. Based in Taiwan. Largan supplies over 60 percent of Apple’s smartphone cameras, but according to the report, Apple might want to utilize dual-lens cameras from other manufacturers to lower its risk.

KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo suggested in a late January report (via 9to5Mac) that Apple will offer a “premium” version of the iPhone 7 Plus, which will feature a dual-camera system. Apple acquired Linx Imaging a while ago, and may use its tech in the special iPhone 7 Plus model, Kuo hints. The tech takes two independent photos and blends them together for an overall better image.

The Linx Imaging technology is not the only high-tech feature that may be added to the special edition iPhone 7 Plus. According to Kuo’s note, the camera will also feature an optical zoom with 2-3x magnification, optical image stabilization, and a much larger field of view. The regular iPhone 7 Plus might be downgraded to a telephoto lens and small field of view to make the premium model more valuable to customers who love to take photos. Of course, Apple hasn’t commented on the report, so it’s still firmly in the rumor mill.

It is not the first time we’ve heard of multiple iPhone models, a report last year out of China said Apple was testing five different iPhone models. One of those models apparently featured a dual-camera system, though the report didn’t mention any of the other camera specs.
